AMPARO FONTANET

During 2020, the first year of pandemic, I learned that uncertainty wasn’t all that bad and weird. There was a unexpected sense of relief in letting go of trying to control the future. I also learned that I could draw and that I could draw well.

I’ve been drawing regularly now since July 2020.

Not-knowing still makes me uncomfortable at times and I worry about the future. Other times I’m ok with it. It even gives me a sense of hope because not-knowing makes everything possible.

Drawing is teaching me about life. Not every line has to be perfect to end up with a perfect illustration. Perfection is the right combination of imperfections and worrying too much about the outcome is useless, paralyzing and stressful.

I enjoy drawing my dogs, Felipe and Boboni. Felipe constantly proved to me that a good attitude makes everything better. Boboni reminded me that caring a little less is highly recommended at times.
